Teaching students to be strong communicators through writing is essential to college and career readiness. This collaborative session will cover strategies including using mentor texts, writing for real world purposes, and reading text sets on a topic. These strategies will provide teachers with the tools to improve student's ability to craft creative, research, technical and practical pieces of writing.
Participants will receive an example of the expectations in the Middle and High School ELAR classes. The reading/writing workshop uses a balanced literacy approach.
